How to organize your short stay in Paris?

  • 15/04/2020
  • Actualités

The golden rule here, whether your short stay in Paris is for business or pleasure, alone, as a couple or with your family, for a night, a weekend or several weeks: don’t take it at the last minute!

Paris is a city that can quickly become expensive. And the best offers (travel, accommodation, etc.) are often proposed well in advance. Transport, accommodation, visits, period, professional stay, comfort… The Cadet Residence explains how best to organise your stay in the French capital

Plan your trip to Paris

In order to optimize your time during your short stay in Paris, there are some things that it is better to check, see booking in advance.
Transportation

To wander freely around Paris, the Paris Visite card is perfect.
You can also buy metro tickets, so prefer to buy books which are cheaper than single tickets, but keep in mind that they run out quickly. For those who don’t plan to walk much, the card is more advantageous.

Museums and monuments

There are many museums and monuments in Paris. However, most of them have at least one closing day per week. So be very careful, and if you have places you want to glaze, check in advance the opening days so you don’t miss out! It would be a shame not to be able to visit your favourite museum during your short stay in Paris .
You can take the opportunity to buy your tickets in advance, so that you don’t lose time in the queue once you get there!

When to visit Paris?

Many will tell you that the City of Lights can be visited all year round, and they will be right!
However, spring, summer and the festive season are often favoured. Some outdoor activities are indeed more pleasant under the sun!
However, if the off-peak periods (November, February, March) offer you sometimes sadder weather, the rates are more advantageous, and there are fewer people, to better enjoy the places you visit! And then, under the rain, Paris is so romantic…

Organize a short professional stay in Paris

If your stay in Paris is part of a business trip, the most practical option would be to stay in a hotel close to your meeting place, seminar, training course, trade fair… Choose an establishment offering reasonable rates, spacious rooms, as well as modern and comfortable facilities. The friendly welcome is a plus!
A little advice to get better prices: book in advance? You can try to make a reservation at the very last minute, but then you run the risk of not finding a room worthy of the name, or of paying the full price.

The necessary equipment for a good stay :

In order to be able to rest well, and relax between two days of work, you will need at least :

  • Free WiFi connection
  • Spacious, comfortable and well soundproofed room
  • Fully equipped bathroom
  • Flat screen television

Plan your short stay in Paris in a few clicks

During your stay, you won’t want to miss the city’s monuments and places of interest. Such as the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the Sacré Coeur, Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, the Pantheon, the Marais district, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysée, or the department stores (Printemps and Galeries Lafayette) on Boulevard Haussmann.

Don’t miss the city’s most famous museums such as the Louvre, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the Georges Pompidou Centre, the Picasso Museum, etc.
To be able to visit everything without spending half of your time in transport, choose accommodation with a central location close to transport.
You can also choose a dynamic area with many restaurants, brasseries, bars, markets, shops…

Visit Paris on foot

Paris is not, apart from the periphery at rush hour, the most crowded city in the world in its most touristic parts. Stroll with your nose up, New Europe Tours offers you magnificent guided walks in Paris, accompanied by a free guide.

Paris tourist bus companies

These “bus tours”, such as Open Tour or Big Bus, sell tickets that allow you to visit the Paris you love with an explanatory commentary in your own language. Some tickets give you access to the bus and to museum visits, cruises on the Seine… In short, an enchantment, for a few dozen euros per person.

Living in a hotel residence has many advantages. But the most important one is the comfort of a whole apartment, with a fully equipped kitchen, to really feel at home. Space, which is not always guaranteed in Paris, is also one of the strong points of our studios and apartments.
It is also much easier, for a short stay in the French capital, to book an apartment hotel rather than looking for a furnished rental. No lease contract, no countless visits to 9m2 studios on the 6th floor without a lift …

La Cadet Résidence, a complete offer for your short term rental in Paris :

The Gare du Nord train station, close to our residence.

The Gare du Nord station is the epicenter of our capital. Since 1846, the Gare du Nord has been an essential railway hub for the exchange of goods and people from Paris to the north of France (first Lille) and the neighbouring countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, England and Germany. Enlarged, embellished and expanded for 150 years in terms of the number of arrival lines and reception facilities, the station is today the one that carries the most traffic in France.

If its international vocation was its primary vocation, its strategic position quickly made it a connecting station with the French departments of the west and the north. Neighbouring Gare de l’Est station and close to Saint Lazare, Gare du Nord station receives Thalys, Eurostar, TER, RER (lines E Magenta station underground and B and D), and finally Transilien (lines H and K).

This modernity acquired over the years in no way detracts from the beauty of its façade redesigned by the architect Jacques Ignace Hittorff in 1861. The station receives around 300 million passengers for all the urban, suburban and international destinations it serves.

All cities in the north of France are also served by trains departing from the Gare du Nord. The Eurostar goes to London daily, and the Thalys to Amsterdam, Brussels, Antwerp, Cologne, Essen and Liège.

  • Actualités, Blog

More and more students are going abroad for part of their academic career. However, finding accommodation for these short stays can sometimes be difficult, especially in a city like Paris. You already know how difficult it is to find accommodation in the capital ? Then imagine how complicated it is to find an Erasmus student apartment. An apartment-hotel, such as those in our Cadet Residence, can be a good solution to this problem.

The difficult search for Erasmus student accommodation in Paris

Mobility is a quality that is increasingly sought after in the world of work and in society in general. Thus, students are strongly encouraged to undertake an internship abroad or to follow a semester of courses abroad.

Often referred to as “Erasmus students” after the name of the largest university exchange programme, these expatriate students will face a number of difficulties, the first of which is finding accommodation.

This can be a real obstacle course because there are many constraints. An apartment for Erasmus students must be well located. Indeed, the occupant will probably not be transported to his or her courses.

It can be a real obstacle course because there are many constraints. An apartment for Erasmus students must have a good geographical location. Its occupant will probably not be transported to his classes. The Erasmus student will also pay close attention to the rent as he or she rarely has large resources and other costs to pay.

In addition to these constraints, it should not be forgotten that the research will be done at a distance, from his or her home country. Therefore, without the knowledge of the real estate market and without the possibility to visit.

An apartment for Erasmus students in our Cadet Residence

For Erasmus students in Paris, the apartments of the Résidence Cadet may be the key to their research. Located in the street of the same name between the Opera and the Butte Montmartre, it will allow you to live in the heart of Parisian life! So stay in a dynamic, sought-after neighbourhood with excellent public transport links.

The apartments of the residence are fully furnished and equipped for immediate occupancy. Shelves and cupboards are available to store all the Erasmus student’s belongings. These apartments can accommodate up to 4 or 6 people. Given the difficulty of finding a short-term rental in Paris, the apart-hotel option of the Résidence Cadet is therefore ideal for a student simply wishing to stay for a few months.

Find a hotel near Canal Saint-Martin

  • 10/02/2020
  • Actualités, Blog

You plan to spend a few days in the capital to discover Paris and its charms, no doubt that the discovery of the Canal Saint-Martin is on your schedule. If this is the case, you might consider finding a hotel near Canal Saint-Martin. That’s good, we have an address to propose you to discover this district with such a special atmosphere…

A bit of history on the Canal Saint-Martin

4.55 kilometres long and linking the Bassin de la Villette to the Port de l’Arsenal, the Canal Saint-Martin was built between 1822 and 1825 by decision of Napoleon Bonaparte nearly twenty years earlier.

The poor supply of drinking water led decision-makers to envisage the construction of this canal with the aim of avoiding future epidemics directly linked to poor hygiene conditions. At the same time, the work will simplify the transport of goods and construction materials.

If the project achieves its main objective and sees many workshops and factories coming to settle nearby, the open-air canal soon shows its limits, especially in terms of land traffic. In 1860, Georges-Eugène Haussmann planned to modernise the Canal Saint-Martin. This was to bear fruit a few years later! In order not to harm either river navigation or land traffic, the canal was lowered by 6 metres and covered for almost 2 kilometres, while a fixed bridge was built.

Today, companies have deserted the Canal Saint-Martin. However, tourists come to admire the 9 locks, the 2 swing bridges, the 2 fixed bridges but also the 5 pedestrian footbridges which give it a real charm of yesteryear.

The Canal Saint-Martin, a place to walk and relax

Because of its charm and the romanticism it embodies, the Canal Saint-Martin is a very popular destination for tourists and Parisians alike.
Yes, people come on foot, skateboard or bike to stroll along its banks or simply to sit on a bench and enjoy the moment. Admire the passage of a lock by a barge or a swing bridge in action is one of the small pleasures that the Canal Saint-Martin can provide.

Going up the canal towards the Bassin de la Villette, many craft shops, cafés and restaurants will perhaps arouse some desires…

Unless you simply let yourself be tempted by a boat cruise on the canal, a good idea to discover all its secrets.

Where to find a hotel room near the Canal Saint-Martin ?

The green setting and the special atmosphere of the Canal Saint-Martin have convinced you, so it’s time to think about finding accommodation to fully enjoy the place.

How to find a little piece of Asia in Paris

  • 12/01/2020
  • Blog

Paris is a cosmopolitan city that attracts tourists from all over the world. It is also a city in which many communities from all over the world live together. In particular, the thirteenth arrondissement of the French capital is home to a famous “Chinatown”. However, the best Asian addresses are not all located in this corner of the City of Light, far from it. It is therefore possible to find a corner of Asia in Paris in the ninth arrondissement.

THE BEST ASIAN RESTAURANTS PARIS 9

Do you like egg rolls, lemongrass beef and Chinese nougat more than anything else? You’ll find what you’re looking for in the ninth arrondissement of Paris. This one indeed gathers very good establishments where you can taste delicious Asian dishes. Here are some of them which will make you travel all over the continent.

YOOM MARTYRS

At Yoom Martyrs, rue des Martyrs, you can enjoy the greatest specialities of Cantonese cuisine, with grilled ravioli, baozi buns or other tasty dimsums. These assortments of dishes in small portions will allow you to taste a maximum of recipes without panicking your scales.

TASHI TAGY

In Tashi Tagyé, in Richer Street, it is Tibetan cuisine that is in the spotlight. Less common than its Chinese, Indian or Thai counterparts, it nevertheless deserves to be known. More rustic because of the rigour of the climate which limits the number of cultivable plants, it remains very tasty and is also very affordable.

AO IZAKAYA

For sushi fans, the Japanese restaurant Ao Izakaya offers a trendy setting with an equally modern cuisine. Voted best Japanese restaurant in 2018, its dishes are stunning both to the eye and to the taste buds.

SIZIN

At the other end of Asia, it is Turkey that opens its arms to you in the Sizin restaurant on Saint George Street. The tasty cuisine is prepared with fresh products that are very popular with customers. It is better to book before coming to make sure you can be served.

AN AIR OF ASIA IN PARIS WITH THE CADET RESIDENCE

It is therefore possible to take a culinary tour of Asia while staying in a Parisian arrondissement. And it would be a shame to miss it as the addresses are so worth the detour.

If you want to organize your trip to Asia in Paris, you’d better find accommodation in the ninth arrondissement. La Cadet Résidence also offers studios and apartments with all the comforts to make you feel at home during your stay.

Perfectly located near this Asian island in Paris, its main advantage is to offer large spaces to come with family or friends but also greater freedom than a hotel to feel perfectly at ease in your holiday accommodation.

The 9th arrondissement reserves other secrets for its visitors eager to discover. We are referring for example to the Cité du Midi. It is located at the top of the rue des Martyrs or at the impasse Marie Blanche and the passage Lepic.
