From November 19, 2022, the Christmas lights will be installed in the streets of Paris, and more particularly on the avenue Montaigne, where garlands and fir trees light up the luxury boutiques. Throughout the month of December 2022, and until January 2, 2023, come and discover the beautiful illuminations of this mythical avenue, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées.
This year, however, a few small changes have been implemented in order to respond to the energy sobriety approach. Thus, the light installations will only be illuminated from 5 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.every day to reduce power consumption. In the same perspective of energy saving, the beautiful windows of Parisian stores on rue Montaigne will turn off every day at 10 p.m.
However, the festive spirit is very present, and you can only be seduced by the magical atmosphere of the place, whether for a shopping session, or a walk in the heart of Paris. And to live more fully this period of celebrations, many activities are also offered every Sunday in December 2022 : sparkling trees, tastings, surprises…
The superb illuminations of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré
Not far from Avenue Montaigne, still in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, the Faubourg Saint-Honore is also the seat of many activities for the end of year celebrations. From November 17, 2022 to January 15, 2023, the famous chic street is dressed in its finest finery and presents its traditional illuminations.
As you walk through this classy district of Paris 8, you will discover on the sidewalks a forest of fir trees with pretty light decorations, and immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere where the magic of Christmas operates with sweetness and joy.
Events are also organized to make the moment even more festive, with the parade of the Republican Guard, or the visit of the Chézy brass band, which will be part of the celebration for the launch of the Christmas lights.
Discover the Christmas lights of the Champs-Élysées
For fully experience the magic of the Christmas holidays, the famous avenue des Champs Élysées is a must. Stroll along the most beautiful avenue in the world during these festive periods, and experience an extraordinary Christmas, thanks to the illuminations of the Champs Elysées. The huge luminous decorations compete in beauty, and the 400 decorated trees will put stars in your eyes over nearly 3 km of Christmas magic.
From November 20, 2022 to January 2, 2023, the largest avenue will put on its clothes of light, and will sparkle every day from 5 p.m. until 11:45 p.m. If you are lucky enough to be present on the Champs Élysées on or December 31, no curfew for the twinkles, which will shine brightly all night long, to accompany the festivities planned for these evenings, such as the New Year’s fireworks, or even the musical entertainment that make everyone dance at the stroke of midnight.
A little novelty for Christmas 2022: it is no longer red lights that illuminate the avenue des Champs Élysées, but thousands of golden lights.
Stroll through the enchanted village of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris
Like every year, the City of Paris invites you to live the Christmas celebrations intensely, by discovering the christmas village installed on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville. From December 2, 2022 to January 1, 2023, many small wooden chalets take place to create a village in the colors of Christmas.
